The first shipment of Russian diesel to the United States since Washington banned Russian petroleum imports in 2022 is heading to New York under President Trump’s new agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Reuters reports.
The Malta-flagged tanker Agioi Fanendes loaded 40,000 metric tons of diesel at Russia’s Baltic port of Primorsk on Thursday and is expected to arrive in New York on November 7. The agreement is part of Trump’s efforts to lower U.S. diesel prices ahead of the midterm elections.
