New York City Comptroller Mark Levine has reversed his campaign pledge to invest city funds in Israel Bonds, saying the investment is currently not feasible because of financial and technical considerations. The New York Times reports.
Levine, who is Jewish and has publicly supported Israel, insisted the decision was financial rather than political. His predecessor, Brad Lander, similarly declined to reinvest approximately $40 million in Israel Bonds when the city’s previous holdings matured in 2023.
