CIA Director John Ratcliffe is preparing to take a larger role in U.S. negotiations with Russia and Ukraine as the Trump administration considers scaling back the involvement of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the FT reports. President Trump has not made a final decision, and Witkoff could still remain involved alongside Ratcliffe.
The possible shake-up comes after recent U.S. diplomatic efforts produced little progress, with Russia showing little willingness to soften its demands. European officials have welcomed the prospect of a larger role for Ratcliffe, while Ukraine has indicated it can work with any of the U.S. negotiators.
