The Trump administration has hired private contractors to track down deported migrants overseas and pursue roughly $423 million in unpaid immigration fines and fees owed by more than 66,300 people, Bloomberg reports. CBP awarded contracts worth up to $36 million to four companies operating in Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
The contractors can photograph residences and obtain utility bills, employment records and court documents to determine deportees’ locations and ability to pay.
