Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon on Wednesday sharply criticized the election of five new judges to the International Court of Justice, saying two of them have already taken positions against Israel. The vote, he said, "casts a heavy shadow on the court's ability to adjudicate our matter without bias."
Jordanian judge Mahmoud Daifallah Hmoud accused Israel of war crimes at the UN in October 2023, while Kenyan judge Phoebe Okowa represented Namibia in 2024 proceedings on Israel. The court is still hearing South Africa's "genocide" case against Israel.
