French anti-Israel MEP Rima Hassan sparked outrage after deliberately removing an Israeli flag from an October 7 memorial exhibition inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Her office acknowledged that she removed the flag, but denied claims that she trampled or damaged it, AFP reports. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said the incident is being treated “extremely seriously,” with disciplinary proceedings underway. French MEP François-Xavier Bellamy called for immediate sanctions, accusing Hassan of throwing the flags to the ground in front of photos of victims of the October 7 massacre.
