Flávio Bolsonaro has refused to recognize his defeat in Brazil’s presidential runoff and announced that he will seek to have the election annulled after President Lula won reelection with approximately 51.75% of the vote, compared with Bolsonaro’s 48.25%.
Bolsonaro accused Brazil’s Supreme Court of changing the election rules after Justice Cristiano Zanin extended voting by two hours, until 7 p.m. He argued that the decision created unequal voting conditions across the country and said his legal team would challenge the results. “I will not accept the rules of the game being changed in the middle of the game,” he declared.
