The Trump administration is considering a 90-day ban on U.S. diesel exports in an effort to lower domestic fuel prices ahead of the midterm elections, with diesel currently averaging about $6.52 per gallon, POLITICO reports.
The proposal has drawn opposition from oil industry executives and senior administration officials, including Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who warn it could reduce refinery output and ultimately push fuel prices higher. No final decision has been made, and the White House has dismissed the report as fake news.
