CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper visited the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, flying over the waterway in a U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook as American forces marked a milestone of helping Gulf partners export more than 1.5 billion barrels of crude oil since summer.
CENTCOM says more than 3,000 commercial vessels have transited the strait with U.S. support over the past six months, while over 95% of ships have sailed through safely in recent months. Cooper said the primary shipping routes remain clear of Iranian naval mines following U.S. mine clearance operations.
