Mediators are pushing for an interim U.S.-Iran agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restart negotiations toward ending the war. Iran would restore free passage through Hormuz in exchange for the U.S. lifting its blockade of Iranian ports, according to the Financial Times.
Negotiators have made progress but remain divided over later steps, including an Iranian oil waiver, frozen assets and nuclear issues. Qatari mediators met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. officials on Monday to discuss the proposal.
