In an unusual move not seen since the early 2000s, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has ordered the 98th Division headquarters deployed to the Central Command sector. The 98th Division will assume responsibility for part of Judea and Samaria, taking over areas currently under the Judea and Samaria Division. For the first time in more than two decades, operations in Judea and Samaria will be commanded by two separate divisional headquarters. The 98th Division had recently been placed on standby, and the decision was made today to activate it.
