The U.S. is deploying a third aircraft carrier strike group and a Marine expeditionary unit to the Middle East, adding approximately 10,000 sailors and Marines to the region, according to Fox News, citing two U.S. officials.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group, carrying around 6,000 sailors, and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, with approximately 4,200 personnel, are expected to arrive by the end of November. The Roosevelt departed Japan on Monday and will join the USS George H.W. Bush and USS George Washington, both currently operating in the Arabian Sea.
