An unprecedented confrontation between Prime Minister Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir has intensified over a proposed military action involving Iran, just two days before Israel’s elections. Zamir reportedly fears the move could trigger a sudden confrontation with Tehran and a dangerous miscalculation.
Zamir received instructions from the political leadership but demanded further discussions and signed legal authorization before proceeding. Sources described an extremely tense atmosphere during today’s visit to Palmachim Airbase. Military officials reportedly fear the Iran issue could be exploited for political gain, an accusation strongly denied by government officials.
