Former Likud minister Gilad Erdan announced Friday that his newly formed Unity Party will not run in the upcoming Knesset election after weeks of polling showed it was unlikely to cross the electoral threshold.
Erdan said he launched the party to push for a broad Zionist government capable of passing a conscription law and resolving major national disputes, but concluded that most voters are currently focused primarily on who will serve as prime minister. He added that efforts to join forces with other parties in the unity bloc did not materialize.
