Turkey has submitted a mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to parliament for ratification, advancing a military alliance under which an attack on one country would be considered an attack on all three.
The agreement, signed in August, provides for expanded military cooperation, intelligence sharing, and defense assistance. Turkey's initial contribution is expected to focus on military technology and equipment rather than deploying combat forces.
