Israeli officials believe Lebanon’s government wants to move more aggressively against Hezbollah’s weapons but fears that a direct confrontation with the terror group could trigger another Lebanese civil war. Israeli security officials accuse the Lebanese army of carrying out largely cosmetic actions while leaving major Hezbollah infrastructure intact, and say Israel will continue striking terrorists wherever it detects efforts to rebuild the organization’s capabilities.
