Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed apologized to the state’s Jewish Democratic Caucus for comments he made following the March attack on Temple Israel, when a terrorist rammed his vehicle into the synagogue and opened fire on a security guard. El-Sayed had condemned the attack but also said “hurt people hurt people,” referring to the terrorist having lost four relatives in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon. Critics accused him of justifying the attack. El-Sayed now says it was not the time to provide such context and apologized to anyone hurt by his remarks.
