The U.S. military has disabled advertising trackers across a range of military phones and computers following reports that commercially available location data was being used to track and target American forces in the Middle East, Reuters reports.
The Air Force said it disabled advertising identifiers on its computers and mobile devices two months ago, while U.S. Special Operations Command recently did the same on Windows systems. The Army said advertising IDs on its mobile devices have been disabled since earlier this year.
