Sensitive F-35 components being shipped from Australia to the U.S. for repairs were unexpectedly diverted to Hong Kong this summer, triggering a congressional inquiry over fears sensitive technology may have been exposed to China. The shipment included an F-35 cockpit canopy containing sensitive stealth technology, POLITICO reports.
The Pentagon confirmed components went missing, but it remains unclear why the shipment was rerouted or who currently has the equipment. The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin are working to recover the components and investigate how they ended up in Hong Kong.
