An IDF soldier has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of carrying out espionage tasks on behalf of Iran during the June 2025 war, following a joint investigation by the Military Police, Israel Police, and Shin Bet. According to the IDF, the soldier was recruited by an Iranian handler on Telegram and sent two videos he filmed from civilian locations showing missile interceptions. He later reported the contact to his commanders and was arrested the following day. The court also imposed a suspended sentence, a NIS 1,000 fine, and demoted him to the rank of private.
