The Trump administration is preparing a $2.8 billion weapons sale to Israel that would include 40,000 2,000-pound bombs, making it the largest single U.S. sale of the powerful munitions to Israel in recent years, the Washington Post reports. The package includes 20,000 MK-84 bombs, 20,000 BLU-117 bombs and 20,000 I-2000 penetrator warheads designed for hardened targets. The proposed sale has been informally notified to congressional committees and will require approval before moving forward.
