The U.S. Treasury has imposed sweeping new sanctions on Iran’s commercial aviation sector under “Operation Economic Outcast,” targeting 36 entities accused of supporting Iranian airlines, sanctions evasion and aircraft procurement networks. The measures include 27 Iranian airlines, among them Iran Air Tour, Iran Aseman Airlines, Kish Airlines and Qeshm Air, while also tightening aviation restrictions involving flights and U.S.-origin aircraft. Treasury additionally targeted companies and individuals in several countries accused of helping Mahan Air obtain aircraft, UAV components, industrial equipment and U.S.-origin aircraft parts.
