Syrian authorities said they intercepted a shipment of advanced weapons near the Iraqi border that was allegedly bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon, seizing long-range missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, and drones concealed inside an oil tanker. An Iraqi official told Al Jazeera the operation took place on July 7, but Syria did not notify Iraq until after its investigation was completed. The official added that the detained driver confessed to collusion by employees at the Al-Waleed border crossing, prompting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani to order an investigation.
