Beaches at the Kinneret will remain open despite the recent hospitalization of a child infected with the rare Naegleria fowleri “brain-eating amoeba,” Israeli health officials indicated Tuesday. A Health Ministry official said authorities are not ordering closures and that visitors will have to decide whether they wish to enter the water. The infection was traced to a child who had recently swum at Kursi Beach.
