A $240,000 autonomous sea drone operated by California-based Seasats came close enough to record footage of a Chinese Type 052D guided-missile destroyer operating inside the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone, Reuters reported. The company said the Lightfish drone encountered the warship about 105 kilometers northwest of Luzon and has previously come across several other Chinese naval vessels.
