Israel’s Central Elections Committee voted 31-4 Wednesday to disqualify Balad chairman Sami Abu Shehadeh from running for the Knesset, approving a request filed by Otzma Yehudit. Committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg took the unusual step of voting in favor of the disqualification. The decision is not final and will now go before the Supreme Court, which will have the final say.
