Iran has increasingly adapted its attacks to overwhelm U.S. air defenses, using drones and maneuvering missiles while forcing American forces to burn through costly Patriot interceptors, The New York Times reports. In Jordan, one Iranian missile broke through after days of attacks, killing three U.S. soldiers at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base. On one particularly intense day, U.S. forces across the Middle East fired about 50 Patriot interceptors, each costing roughly $6 million. Earlier in the war, Iran also shot down a U.S. F-15E over southern Iran with a shoulder-fired missile after using drones to help track the jet.
