Volkswagen is preparing to sell its Osnabrück plant under a proposal that would convert the site into a defense production facility supporting Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. The planned consortium, involving the state of Lower Saxony, investment firm Aurelius and Israeli defense company Rafael, would manufacture Iron Dome launchers, transport vehicles and power-generation equipment at the factory. The arrangement was structured to avoid objections from Volkswagen shareholder Qatar, which had previously opposed a direct partnership between VW and Rafael.
