The State Department is preparing to return U.S. diplomats to several Middle Eastern embassies evacuated before and during the war with Iran, signaling that the Trump administration does not currently anticipate a return to full-scale fighting, The New York Times reports. The process could begin this week, with diplomats expected to return to posts in Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE. Some embassies will remain below full staffing, while restrictions on family members will continue due to ongoing security concerns.
