Newly released emails reveal that U.S. immigration officials worked directly with Iranian authorities to arrange the deportation of more than 100 Iranians to Iran in late 2025, even as tensions between Washington and Tehran were escalating. The emails show Iranian officials requested changes to deportation lists, helped select some of those being returned and were given access to Iranian detainees in U.S. custody. The Trump administration also pushed to accelerate deportations during the 12-day U.S.-Israel war with Iran, with ICE officials instructed to prepare 58 Iranians in custody for removal.
