The Trump-led Kennedy Center board voted Thursday to move ahead with closing the center’s main building for renovations, while keeping its newer REACH addition open for limited programming. The New York Times reports the board reviewed a 163-page, $250 million renovation plan that includes structural repairs, new marble floors and $11.8 million in acoustical improvements. The decision still faces review by U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, who temporarily blocked an earlier closure vote, ruling it had been “ill-informed and seemingly preordained.” The current proposal targets summer 2028 for reopening.
