U.S. forces destroyed the surveillance tower at Iran's Shahid Kalantari Port in Chah Bahar on July 16, targeting part of an IRGC maritime surveillance network that had been used for decades to track commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. According to U.S. Central Command, the strike degrades the IRGC's ability to coordinate attacks on civilian shipping and helps protect freedom of navigation in regional waters, while the U.S. naval blockade against Iran remains in effect.
