Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said Wednesday that plans to facilitate the emigration of Gazans have not been canceled but are currently frozen, claiming Arab countries pressured President Trump to put the proposal on hold. Katz said Israel is prepared to facilitate departures from Gaza by air, sea or other routes, but countries willing to receive Gazans want U.S. backing. He claimed Arab states offered investments and the disarmament of Hamas in exchange for President Trump freezing the plan, adding that discussions on the issue are continuing.
