The Trump administration is proposing a $10 billion fund to rebuild Middle East energy infrastructure damaged during the Iran war and reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz, The Wall Street Journal reports. The U.S. would contribute $5 billion and seek another $5 billion from eight regional countries. Negotiations remain underway, and it is unclear whether the countries will participate. Some regional officials have warned that rebuilding without a peace agreement with Iran risks renewed attacks on repaired infrastructure.
