The French Navy seized a Russian-linked oil tanker in the Indian Ocean on Monday, approximately 450 nautical miles south of Réunion Island. President Emmanuel Macron said the vessel, identified as DF Peak, is suspected of operating under a false flag and illegally transporting fuel as part of Russia’s shadow fleet, Reuters reports. The tanker is being escorted toward Réunion for further investigation. Russia condemned the seizure as a violation of international law, accusing France of piracy.
