California Gov. Gavin Newsom said he is considering a 2028 presidential run but would not enter the race if former Vice President Kamala Harris runs. “I wouldn’t run if she ran,” Newsom told CNN’s Jake Tapper during an interview while fly-fishing in Montana. He said a contest between the two would be “mutual assured destruction” because of their overlapping supporters and friends. Newsom said he was not ready to run in 2024 and believes presidential candidates need a compelling reason for seeking the White House.
