A fan ran onto the field during the seventh inning Sunday night, September 13, during the Yankees-Mets Subway Series game at Yankee Stadium, waving a Palestinian flag on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The fan entered from the left-field seats and sprinted toward center field before being quickly tackled and detained by stadium security. The incident came after pregame ceremonies honoring the victims and first responders of 9/11. Members of the 2001 Yankees, including Derek Jeter, also participated. Fans booed the fan, with some throwing beer cans, before the crowd began chanting, “USA.”
