Drivers in East Williamsburg could soon see Grand Street become a one-way road. The city is studying a plan to make Grand Street one-way heading east and nearby Metropolitan Avenue one-way heading west, with a new protected bike lane. Both are busy truck routes, and local businesses want two traffic lanes on each, but safety advocates warn that would mean faster cars. Grand Street had 103 reported crashes in 2025, and no final plan has been proposed yet.
