UK: Children under 16 will be banned from buying high-caffeine energy drinks in England from April under new government plans. The ban will apply to drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre and will cover sales in shops, restaurants, cafés, vending machines and online. Subject to parliamentary approval, businesses that break the law could face fines of up to £2,500, with enforcement carried out by local authorities. Most major supermarkets have already voluntarily stopped selling the drinks to under-16s.
