UK: Foreign nationals would be barred from claiming almost all benefits under a Reform UK government, including EU citizens with settled status in Britain, the party has said. Under the plans, foreign nationals would no longer be eligible for benefits including Universal Credit, housing benefit, pension credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance, child benefit, free childcare and disability benefits. Reform claims the measure would save £21bn a year by its fifth year and forms part of a wider welfare overhaul aimed at cutting annual spending by £50bn. The proposals are being formally unveiled today by Reform’s Treasury spokesman Robert Jenrick.
