Israel: A surprise work stoppage by ground staff has caused major disruption at Ben Gurion Airport at the height of the summer travel season, temporarily halting arriving flights. The Israel Airports Authority says arrivals will gradually resume from 3pm “in accordance with the rearrangement of the flight schedule”. Reports say the announcement follows an agreement reached between airport management and workers. Earlier, the IAA demanded employees return to work and threatened legal action against the airport workers union. Transportation Ministry officials were quoted as saying that “heads will roll and workers will go home” if the stoppage was indeed a strike.
