Middle East: US President Trump’s envoy Jared Kushner met Hamas leaders in Egypt today to press the terror group to fulfil its commitment to disarm, according to sources familiar with the meeting. It was Kushner’s first meeting with Hamas leaders since the agreement to end the war in Gaza was signed last October, as the White House and Trump’s Board of Peace push Israel and Hamas to move to the next phase of the US 20-point peace plan. Board of Peace high representative Nickolay Mladenov and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair reportedly joined Kushner at the talks, alongside Hamas political leader Khalil al-Hayya, Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, Qatari diplomat Ali al-Thawadi and a senior Turkish official. Kushner is expected to visit Israel on Monday for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on “corresponding steps” Israel must take.
