*FJCC UPDATE:* Following yesterday's update regarding the proposed bike lanes and the community feedback we received, the FJCC is providing additional context. In the past, similar bike lane proposals in the community were successfully stopped through the joint efforts of the FJCC, local elected officials, Community Board leadership, and previous mayoral administrations. In this case, however, the NYC Department of Transportation did not notify or consult with the community before beginning work on the project. Since learning of the plan, the FJCC has been working closely with local elected officials to stop or modify the project in an effort to protect the community's safety, interests, and priorities, while also continuing to engage directly with the Mayor's Office. The FJCC thanked elected officials for their advocacy and partnership and said it will keep the community updated as developments occur, while continuing to welcome feedback and constructive ideas from residents.
