Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced a new $3 million Emergency Microgrant Fund for licensed home-based child care providers, with more than 500 providers expected to be eligible for grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to cover urgent expenses such as broken appliances, burst pipes, storm damage and other emergencies that could threaten their ability to remain open. The program is expected to launch before the end of 2026.
