A Brooklyn judge on Thursday sentenced Dmitry Popov to 20 years in prison for the 2023 fatal stabbing of 28-year-old O'Shea Sibley at a Midwood gas station. Popov, who was 17 at the time of the attack, was convicted last month of manslaughter as a hate crime, along with weapons and other charges, but was acquitted of second-degree murder as a hate crime. Prosecutors said Sibley was fatally stabbed during a confrontation after he and his friends were targeted with homophobic and racist slurs.
