A judge has temporarily halted the city’s bike lane project across Flatbush, with a court hearing scheduled for Wednesday. The Temporary Restraining Order was issued July 22 following a lawsuit filed by attorney and Community Board 14 representative Binyomin Bendet. The lawsuit argues that bike lanes installed on Avenues J, L and M and several surrounding streets were implemented without the legally required procedures or meaningful community input. The FJCC says the lanes create additional safety concerns on Flatbush’s narrow and congested streets. Anyone who witnessed DOT crews working on the bike lanes after July 22 is asked to contact the FJCC immediately.
