Family members of victims killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks have launched a petition calling on organizers of the 25th anniversary 9/11 memorial to exclude New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani from participating in the ceremony. The petition, which has garnered more than 5,000 signatures, argues that Mamdani's public positions, associations, and responses to issues involving terrorism and antisemitism are incompatible with the solemn purpose of the annual memorial. Organizers of the official 9/11 remembrance have not yet publicly responded to the petition.
