New York City officials announced that approximately 1,200 sidewalk sheds have been removed across the five boroughs since January, representing a reduction of more than 15%. Mayor Zohran Mamdani also unveiled new sidewalk shed designs intended to improve lighting, pedestrian access and storefront visibility.
