New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Tuesday that an architecture and construction consulting firm has been shut down after investigators found it used a licensed architect to improperly fast-track renovation applications through the NYC Department of Buildings. The AG’s office says Basic Group submitted projects for expedited approval without the architect actually reviewing or supervising the plans, including work at a Brooklyn apartment building, and the architect has now been barred from doing future business with the DOB.
